The Adrift Vaporware Awards: Winner denounced
In a surprising move, the organiser of the first Adrift Vaporware Awards rescheduled the entire event and denounced the winner during an unique and memorable event.
The winner, voted upon of and by one voice by the organiser, is Stefan Donati (Shuarian). "The lack of any submission made choosing the right winner a very tricky task" said the organiser afterwards, and continued "but I'm sure that our choice reflects the general wish of the public, and is well deserved. Among the non-existent games, the winner's entries are clearly outstanding". Due to the lack of other contenders, the winner received a combined all-in-one award.
After the main event, a private party was to be held in a luxurious mansion. Since, despite claims to the contrary, the
construction company wasn't able to finish the building so far, the party was relocated to a nearby tent under a bridge. A surprised and
badly shaved winner held his celebration speech in a visibly affected manner: "I'm very happy to have won this award, and I'm
sure to not write many, many games in the future.". Whether his high spirits were due to earnest joy or the bottle of champagne in his
hand wasn't clearly ascertainable.
All in all, the organiser was very content with the outcome. Asked about plans for the future, he announced an increase of the current prize money of 100'000 USD by 1001%, so as to attract more authors to give up their daily job and work full-time on not finishing any game.
